Exploring Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo’s Soundtrack

In the realm of romantic comedies, few television series have captured the hearts of audiences quite like Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo. Based on the iconic manga Itazura na Kiss by Kaoru Tada, this Japanese drama series weaves a delightful tale of love, laughter, and life’s unexpected turns.

Before diving into the nuances of the soundtrack, it’s essential to understand the essence of Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo. The story follows the journey of a high school girl, Kotoko Aihara, who harbors an unrequited crush on her school’s smartest and most aloof student, Naoki Irie. Fate intervenes when Kotoko’s house is destroyed in an earthquake, and her family finds themselves living with the Irie family. The series explores Kotoko’s relentless pursuit of Naoki’s affection, their evolving relationship, and the humorous, heartfelt moments that ensue. And how a rejection can become an acceptance.

Season 1 Soundtrack

The soundtrack for Season 1 of Mischievous Kiss: Love in Tokyo is a carefully curated collection of tunes that reflect the series’ youthful energy and emotional depth. The opening theme, “Update” by Sabao, immediately sets the tone for the series. It is an upbeat, catchy song that captures Kotoko’s optimistic and determined nature, inviting viewers to join her on her relentless pursuit of love.

Season 2 Soundtrack

As the series progresses into Season 2, the soundtrack evolves to reflect the maturing themes and characters. While still retaining the charm and whimsy of the first season, the music in Season 2 delves deeper into the complexities of love and marriage, as Naoki and Kotoko’s relationship continues to develop.

Opening Theme: “Kiss Kiss Kiss” by Cyntia
With a more mature sound, “Kiss Kiss Kiss” introduces viewers to the next chapter of Kotoko and Naoki’s journey. The song’s playful yet sophisticated melody signifies the progression of their relationship, capturing the excitement and challenges of their new life together.

The lyrics convey themes of devotion and resilience, aligning with the series’ narrative of enduring love and personal growth. The final notes evoke hope and fulfillment, serving as a poignant reminder of love’s enduring power and providing a fitting closure to each episode.

Who is Cynthia?

Cyntia, pronounced as “Cyntia,” is a trailblazing all-female rock band from Japan, formed in 2011 by former Destrose members, including vocalist Saki and guitarist Yui.
